As the fighting continues in the Gaza, Israelis who live near the border suffer uncertainty because they remain within range of Hamas rocket fire which, in spite of the Israeli Defense Forces incursion, continues. My guest on News Talk Online on Paltalk.com, Moshe Eshed, described the living conditions in a small settlement one mile east of Ashdod well with in the Hamas rockets range today. The early warning rocket fire system gives Jewish residents in that area just 45 seconds to take cover. Eshed says when the siren sounds most people don't even have time to get to a bomb shelter and are instructed to lay flat on the ground with their hands over their heads. Even if one is close to a shelter, those who are sick or disabled never have a chance. You could jump into a ditch but that doesn't afford much protection. I find it amazing that some of the comments made during the show reflected a lack of compassion for what Eshed and his neighbors are going through. Eric in Florida asked Eshed if a two state solution would be possible if the Hamas were out of the picture. Eshed believes that Hamas rival, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, offers a better opportunity of reaching an agreement with Israel.
