JOHN CHARLES THOMAS RADIO 1939 ASCAP
JOHN CHARLES THOMAS SINGS MIGHTY6 LIKE A ROSE COMPOSED BY NEVIN.... ENJOY!!!!!
Mieczysław Fogg (!) sings Zarah Leander ...:-)
Encouraged by my friend, Parlophonman, to go on with unique recordings of Zarah Leander's repertoire, I found in my collection Polish interpretation of the song "Gebundene Hände" as Związane mam ręce, recorded by the most popular Polish singer a legend with passing time Mieczysław Fogg. Music was composed by Ralph Benatzky. Polish translation of the musical comedy Axel an der Himmelstür as Jaś u raju bram (Johnny at the gate of heaven) and lyrics of the song were made by Marian Hemar. It is not easy for me to be a partner in the present Leander-Polish-Dutch-German-shellac-bridge. I am able to present only early songs (Habanera sung by Janusz Popławski is on my channel !) which that star made popular in Europe and which happened to be popular also in Poland and had Polish versions. One should not forget that after Summer 1939 everything in my country changed in result of German aggression and occupation. At the same time, stars like Leander, Rök, Werner and many others, became a propaganda representatives of the occupant who had one aim: to annihilate people and their possessions of the carved out area. And nearly no one patriotically oriented, neither was watching films like Die grosse Liebe in the cinemas labelled Nur für Deutsche or listened to the records like "Davon geht die Welt nicht unter. And therefore in the dark night of the war these things were not able to have Polish versions ! That seems crazy even now if they were. That is why, and for the reason mentioned above, my Polish Leander presentation must be limited. However - this is not the last one:-) Transfer from the 1937 Syrena-Record 78rpm - without any sound modification AS EVER ! Photos of Zarah Leander, taken from the 1938 sheet music album: Lieder die Zarah Leander singt !.
Tachikawa Ki-55 Ida
The Tachikawa Ki-55 was a Japanese advanced trainer. The excellent characteristics of the Tachikawa Ki-36 made it potentially ideal as a trainer. This led to the development of the Ki-36 with a single machine-gun. After successful testing of a prototype in September 1939, the type was put into production as the Army Type 99 Advanced Trainer. In all 1,389 were constructed before production ended in December 1943 with Tachikawa having built 1078 and Kawasaki 311. Both the Ki-55 and the Ki-36 were given the Allied codename 'Ida.'
