Bee Gees - You Should Be Dancing

Bee Gees - You Should Be Dancing

"You Should Be Dancing" was a single by the Bee Gees, from the Children of the World album in 1976. The single rose to number five on the UK singles chart and hit number one for 1 week on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number one for 7 weeks on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play. It was this song that first launched the Bee Gees into disco stardom, although rock-oriented drums and guitars can be heard in the background. It was also the only track from the group to top the Club play charts. "You Should Be Dancing" is known today as the first chart-topper in which Barry Gibb uses his now-trademark falsetto (he had previously used it on the top-10 "Nights on Broadway", and on "Fanny (Be Tender With My Love)"). The song was prominently featured in the movie Saturday Night Fever. This song and the scene from the movie containing the song were seen and heard in Short Circuit. The Boston Celtics also play this song when they are about to win a basketball game accompanied by the ever popular "Dancing Gino" video from American Bandstand. Live performances of "You Should Be Dancing" during the 1979 Spirits Having Flown tour featured the Bee Gees' younger sibling, Andy Gibb, on backing vocals. [info courtesy: wikipedia.org]

Bee Gees - Tragedy

Bee Gees - Tragedy

"Tragedy" is a song recorded by the Bee Gees, included on their 1979 album Spirits Having Flown. The single reached No.1 in the UK in February 1979 and repeated the feat the following month on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Though not originally in Saturday Night Fever, it has subsequently been added to the musical score of the West End version of the movie-musical. The song knocked "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor off the top spot in the U.S. for two weeks before that song again returned to the No.1 spot for one additional week. In 1979, NBC aired The Bee Gees Special which showed how the sound effect for the explosion was created. Barry cupped his hands over a microphone and made an exploding sound. Several of these sounds were then mixed together creating one large boom heard on the record. [info courtesy: wikipedia.org]

Andy Gibb - After Dark

Andy Gibb - After Dark

After Dark is an album by Andy Gibb. It was his final studio album, and was released in 1980. With drugs impeding his previous ability to write and even fully sing the tracks on his own record, Gibb was only able to forge his performance with nearly intrusive support from brother Barry. In March 1980 the last of Gibb's Top Ten singles charted just ahead of the album's release. "Desire", was recorded for the Bee Gees' 1979 album Spirits Having Flown, and featured their original track complete with Andy's original "guest vocal" track. A second single, "I Can't Help It", a duet with family friend Olivia Newton-John, reached the Top Twenty. [info courtesy: wikipedia.org]
