CUNY Contingents Unite made a banner and brought two plastic crates to serve as a speaker's platform for a demonstration held outside Baruch College of The City University of New York on December 8, 2008. Students demand no budget cuts, no tuition hikes and no layoffs of adjunct instructors. See the informative sign: A CUNY Contingent is: in the video. We call on all CUNY students, adjunct instructors, staff and especially full-time professors to become ACTIVE in bolstering public education while politicians continue to tell us to accept "austerity." We need increased funding for public education not cuts, larger class sizes and layoffs.
PSC Rally Dec. 16
The Professional Staff Congress (PSC-CUNY) held a demonstration outside the office of New York Governor David Paterson. Various organizations like CUNY Contingents Unite joined in calling for no tuition hikes and no budget cuts for The City University of New York. Hear PSC President Barbara Bowen's call to the governor for attention to public education. We need the general public to become aware of the critical times facing students and adjunct instructors at CUNY.
Urban High King: Climbing up the Waldorf Towers
Urban High King, an oronym of "urban hiking", consists of gaining access to a city's viewing points normally reserved for the wealthy and privileged; the Urban Kings sitting high up in their office or boardroom thrones, overlooking the crowded streets where us poor peasants are slaving away... sure, their money built these buildings so they should be entitled to their viewing points... but isn't everyone entitled to their views?
