BZ Community Class - Joel Gallarde - Select and Solo
Joel Fuentes Gallarde is the Founder and Director of TRiPLe8FuNk Dance Company which is one of the biggest Hip Hop Dance Companies in New Zealand and The Company of University Dancers (CUDZ), which is based at The University of Auckland, the biggest university in the country. The company recently took 5th place at the 2007 World Hip Hop Championships in Los Angeles, USA. He has successfully done a number of projects in annually organizing and producing Hip Hop workshops, shows, and events. He also has a strong and active involvement in the modern day Hip Hop Dance community having taught in a number of dance studios and being well known in the Hip Hop Dance industry. He is a graduate of The University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Film, Television, Media and Spanish and has done studies in Communication, Business Management, and Maori Performing Arts. In 2004, he was awarded The Blues Award which is the highest award for student service and excellence by The University of Auckland. In 2006, He traveled 5 continents around the world to train, expand, & do research on the latest Hip Hop and Funk Dance styles. From Korea, Japan, Paris, Pineapple Studios in London, Do Dat Studios in Toronto, to Los Angeles, San Diego, and Broadway Dance Centre in New York to name a few. He had also judged Hip Hop Dance competitions and taught Hip Hop Dance workshops in the Philippines, Argentina, and Brazil and have made a worldwide network in the international Hip Hop Dance community. Joel believes that in order to be successful in dancing, one needs to find discipline to work hard & at the same time be willing to share their knowledge, passion and enjoyment to the community.
