Kara Diya Gambarey (Original) - Edward Jayakody
This must be one of Edward Jayakody's very first songs if not the first as I remember. When he was my music master in school back in 1981 he'd already sung this one. So I assume its before 1981. This song used to be a frequent request in the morning radio show 'listener's request' Very nice song and a melody.

Wanni OPeration 08/01/2009 - LTTE ban announced at media briefing
LTTE ban announced at media briefing Minister Maithripala Sirisena announced at a media conference summoned yesterday to intimate cabinet decisions that the LTTE is a banned outfit in Sri Lanka.. The Minister said the Cabinet nod was unanimous, in accordance with a memorandum submitted by the President to proscribe the LTTE which continued to engage in blatant human rights violations. The proclamation of the President banning the LTTE under chapter 40 of the Public Security Ordinance gave several reasons for the proscription. They included inter alia committing acts of terrorism and other forms of violence with the aim of establishing a separate state. Engaging in armed conflict with the troops and the Police, assassinating persons of high political office, members of the security forces and the Police and civilians, threatening the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country is another reason. The Minister said the other reasons included keeping civilians in the North and East as hostages and using them as human shields, preventing humanitarian relief reaching the population and illegal procurement and smuggling of arms and using child soldiers..
