7. Bach: Jesu, meine Freude, BWV 227
Stereo: http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=yP32qWKisXM&fmt=18 Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 - 1750). Motet: Jesu, meine Freude, BWV 227. 9. 9. Chorale Good night, existence that cherishes the world! You do not please me. Good night, sins, stay far away, never again come to light! Good night, pride and glory! To you utterly, life of corruption, be good night given! 10. Chorus Therefore now since the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, that same who raised Christ from the dead will make your mortal bodies living, for the sake of His spirit that dwells in you. 11. Chorale Hence, you spirits of sadness, for my Master of joy, Jesus, comes here. For those who love God, even their troubles must be pure sugar. Though I endure mockery and shame here already, nevertheless you stay with me even in sorrow, Jesus, my joy. In the midst of his first season at Leipzig, while having to produce a cantata for each Sunday of the year, Bach was asked to provide music for the funeral of a distinguished University academic. What resulted was Bachs most lengthy and ambitious motet. The work "Jesu, meine Freude" is actually a lengthy and detailed set of variations on that choral melody. Bach had, in his early years, produced several Choral...
Dion 1962-I Was) Born To Cry - (W Interview )
There are two artists named Dion, one is Dion Francis DiMucci, the other is John Kerssies, a dutch hiphop producer. Dion Francis DiMucci (b July 18, 1939), better known as Dion, is an American singer-songwriter, now widely recognized as one of the top singers of his era, blending the best elements of doo-wop, pop, and R&B styles. Early years Dion was born to an Italian-American family in the Bronx borough of New York City. As a child, he used to accompany his father, a vaudeville entertainer, on tour, and developed a love of country music particularly Hank Williams and the blues and doo-wop stars he heard in local bars and on the radio. His singing abilities were honed on the street corners of Crotona Avenue, where he rounded up other local singers inventing acapella licks, and in local clubs. In early 1957 he auditioned for Bob and Gene Schwartz, who had just formed Mohawk Records. They recorded him with a vocal group, The Timberlanes, and released a single The Chosen Few, arranged by Hugo Montenegro, which became a minor regional hit. With the Belmonts, 1957-1960 Schwartz also signed up Dions friends, The Belmonts, named after nearby Belmont Avenue. Their breakthrough together came in early 1958, when I Wonder Why made # 22 on the national US charts, followed up with No One Knows and Dont Pity Me which were also chart hits. This success won Dion and the Belmonts a place on the Winter Dance Party tour with Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and the Big Bopper. On 2 February 1959, after playing at Clear Lake, Iowa, Dion decided that he could not afford the $36 cost of a flight to the next venue [1]. The plane crashed, and Holly and the other stars were killed. In March 1959, Dion and the Belmonts next single, A Teenager In Love, was released, making # 5 in the US pop charts and # 28 in the UK. Their biggest hit, Where or When, was released in November 1959, and reached #3 on the US charts. However, in early 1960, Dion checked in to hospital for heroin...

The Dixie Cups-People Say (1964)
The Dixie Cups are an American pop music girl group of the 1960s.The group hit the top of the charts in 1964 with "Chapel of Love," a song that Phil Spector, Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich had originally written for The Ronettes. The trio consisted of sisters Barbara Ann and Rosa Lee Hawkins; plus their cousin Joan Marie Johnson, from the Calliope housing project in New Orleans. They first sang together in grade school. Originally they were to be called Little Miss and the Muffets, but were named The Dixie Cups just prior to their first release.[1] By 1963 the trio had decided to pursue a career in music and began singing locally as the Meltones. Within a year Joe Jones, a successful singer in his own right with the Top Five 1960 single "You Talk Too Much," became their manager. After working with them for five months, Jones took them to New York, where record producers / songwriters Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller signed them to their new Red Bird Records. Their first release, "Chapel of Love," proved to be their biggest hit, although they had other hits with "People Say" (#12, 1964), "You Should Have Seen the Way He Looked at Me" (#39, 1964), "Iko Iko" (#20, 1965), and "Little Bell" (#51, 1965).[2] "Iko Iko", a New Orleans R&B standard, was recorded early in 1965. Barbara Hawkins had heard her grandmother sing the song, first recorded in 1954 as "Jock-a-Mo" by James "Sugar Boy" Crawford. Barbara Hawkins: "We were just clowning around with it during a session using drumsticks on ashtrays. We didn't realize that Jerry and Mike had the tapes running". Leiber and Stoller overdubbed a bassline and percussion, and released it. It was The Dixie Cups' fifth and last hit. In 1966, the Dixie Cups were moved to the ABC-Paramount record label and later temporarily retired from the record industry. In 1969 the Hawkins sisters moved from New York to New Orleans, where Rosa Hawkins began a successful modelling career.[3] Both Rosa and Barbara also worked as make-up...
