Bob Hope January 9, 1973 035-108 White House Telephone Comedian Bob Hope calls President Richard Nixon to wish him a happy birthday. The two men also discuss the Vietnam War and golf. Toward the end of the conversation, Hope suggests that Nixon give movie mogul Adolph Zukor the Medal of Freedom. Nixon tells him to contact his former law partner, Len Garment, whom Nixon considers to be a "wonderful guy." (Garment was White House Legal Counsel during the Watergate Scandal.)
