Johnny Rebel originally wrote and recorded this song. To my ears it sounds like one of Johnny's more humorous songs. But when it was released, a lot of people complained because the lyrics suggested that using niggers as alligator bait was a good idea. As far as I'm concerned, why not do it. Might as well get SOME good use out of a nigger!Some folks also objected to the last verse where Johnny compared niggers to mules. In the process, Mr. Rebel pointed out that niggers are lazy and live off welfare, and are even less intelligent than most people think they are:But a mule earns his living by the sweat of his neckWhile a nigger sits down and draws a government check.A nigger should be smarter as a general ruleBut in a spelling contest, I'd pick the muleI guess the truth was too difficult for some people to deal with. Oh well....A short time later Big Reb recorded two of Johnny Rebels's songs and released them as a single. "Nigger Hatin' Me" was on the A-side, and this song "Who Likes A Nigger" was the B-side.Enjoy!
