"Can't help loving that man" with music by Jerome Kern and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein, is one of the most songs from their classic 1927 musical play "Show Boat, adapted from Edna Ferber's novel. "Can't help loving that man"was extremely associated with 1920's singer Helen Morgan who played Julie in the original 1927 stage production of "Show Boat", as well as the 1932 revival and the 1936 film version. Another singer who had a big hit with it was Lena Horne, who sang it in the Jerome Kern biopic "Till Clouds Roll By". NOTE: Timi Yuro is considered to be one of the first "blue-eyed" soul stylist of the rock-era, and the first white female artist to sing at New York's legendary's Apollo Theater in Harlem. Due credit for Timi's performance at the Apollo Theater must go to Clyde Otis, Timi's producer, he went with her to New York and made her sing at the Apollo Theater.
